"Seriously though, I will never understand the concept of war.
I will assume this movie does a very good job at conveying how horrible it is, though, if only because it doesn’t feel like any other war movie I’ve seen. For once, it makes things a lot more differently. Instead of portraying all the characters as goody two shoes it actually gives them flaws, fears, doubts, and fleshes them out even when the movie is about to end. It’s also shot and edited masterfully. It doesn’t exploit the violence but it shows you just enough so you can get the idea of how horrible it is.
I’m sure one of these days my knowledge of war will increase, but until then I will stick with movies like this one that have a pretty good balance between realism and romanticism.
And now, if you'll excuse me, I better get down from this tank. It’s scary how powerful you feel when you’re driving one of these."
