FROM THE SOURCE
Second, the final piece for today, isn’t from any kind of canon work — it’s a test page, similar (in reason) to one from a few months back, to get a grasp of the style. >>1062653
Mike Mignola’s work is a big inspiration to me. His Hellboy comics really stand out because of their detailed simplicity and bold contrasting shadows on his characters. So i started looking into it.
I think my mind naturally gravitates towards filling in the shadows (albeit not always correctly) because i’m more comfortable with composition than any other art element. It also allows me to do pages relatively quickly since I’m the only one doing all sketching, inking, colouring and text.
I look forward to your guys opinion on this test page.

The first time he showed me this I loved it. I was sold immediately, it took the solid shadows style that we agreed upon a few months ago and then mixed it with the sketchy outlines that I loved from the recent thread.
It took him a while but I’m really proud of Dis for finally deciding on a style and one that he liked to do not one that he felt he had to do.
