Leading up to MLP Season 6 I wanted to make an image of Sunburst just like this for when we eventually saw him present-day in the show in all his glory, reminiscent of a set I'd done last year.Alternate Tumblr source
Before it started someone beat me to it, if you could say that, at least for the style of background when the first preview from the My Little Pony page was published. So, I changed it just a bit, and the inspiration might be clearer now that I've brought it to your attention.
Unfortunately for me, when MLP Season 6 did finally start, I was either busy on vacation or busy with college, so it took almost a month after the premiere for me to get around to this, skipping several other want-to-vector things (including full-body vectors of Sunburst and/or stuff from season 5's finale) in the meantime.
It's also literally the same kind of "shading" I did last year. Up to you to interpret it as lack of any real progress on learning it or doing it so as to match with the old portraits. That and it's still tedious enough for me to attempt shading on a mere headshot/bust, let alone an entire body or scene.
Josh Haber said something about Sunburst while autographing this picture (with the absence of Sunburst's VA at BABSCon, especially so soon after the premiere, I'd gone for his writer/creator instead), but I was so flustered that I'd forgotten everything. He made sure to leave some space for when/if I'd eventually meet Ian Hanlin.

This pic reminded me why Sunburst is one of my horsebundos.
