I like this character because she lives in absolute squalor, but was educated as a surgeon in medieval Prance. And she carries a broken sword not because she knows how to fight, but in memory of her older sister who carried it before her.
Plus, the hilt of that sword makes for an awesome little shoulderpiece on her dress. But I'm not sure that shows up very well in this sketch.
