Mimi idolizes her father, but her parents divorced when she was 4. His divorce with Rarity felt like a betrayal against her, it's not like she hates any of her parents, but she will hate everypony that dare to replace Fashion Plate, that's why she had troubles accepting Ivory or Spike. She's still trying to get them together again, even if 16 years has passed and Rarity is happily married with Spike. Fashion Plate wasn't exactly the worst father, but either was a great dad, he was too focused on his job, that's one of the reason why he and Rarity divorced.
