"Anyway, the picture is pony-fying a beautiful scene from the movie Nausicaa of the Valley of the Winds, a Studio Ghibli film that I highly recommend. It has one of my favorite art styles for any movie, and the storytelling for it is just incredible.

In that scene, the adults found out that little Nausicaa was hiding a baby Ohmu (a bug monster from the toxic wastelands) in a tree, and naturally they have to kill it and cut down the tree to make sure no spores from the wasteland are spread. Nausicaa tries in vain to keep them from taking the baby bug away, crying, "It's not doing anything bad! Please don't kill it!"

So I had the idea to replace the Ohmu with a Changeling, since they're so bug-like already, and so this came to be. XD

Since Nausicaa is a princess, I naturally made her an alicorn, and I picked a pale blue color for her, since blue is such a strong color associated with Nausicaa. At this point in time in the story, she wouldn't be old enough to have her cutie mark yet."
