Artist's notes:

This is a commission I recently finished for kaeto1. If you are not familiar with the 1970's American TV series Emergency! you might want to catch it on NetFlix.

Usually when I am asked to create an illustration I need a story to explain why I am drawing the person, location or object in the first place. As I started thinking about what I was going to draw this little bit of theater played out in my head.

"Okay sweetie we're almost there! Just hold on tight"

Johnny trotted steadily toward the front door of the house. On his back was a young filly, her usually bright mauve coat and golden mane were darkened with soot. He resisted the desire to gallop for the door; now was not the time to trip on something in the smoke or worse drop the little filly. The filly's only reply to Gages comment was a weak cough.

Stepping out into the noonday sun he squinted as his senses were assaulted by the scene in front of him. The steady roar of the engines running as they pumped thousands of gallons of water to combat the fire. The bright noonday sun reflecting off of large puddles of water on the street. A steady breeze blew into his face, looking up he saw several pegasi from Station 22 wind-working to blow the smoke and heat away from the ponies who were working the hoses. Also they were working to prevent the spreading of burning ember to nearby structures. Over sounds of ponies shouting orders and replying he heard his partner's voice.

"Johnny over here!" Roy was trotted up to him. "We've got a temporary pavilion erected over here. Cap says a weather team will be moving a rain cloud over in about 5 minutes lets get her under cover."

Johnny carried the filly over to a waiting stretcher and gently set her down on it. Roy was already in the process of reestablishing a communication link with Rampart.

"How's she doing?" Roy asked as he waited for a reply.

Johnny was already starting to talk the young filly's vitals. "Well Roy she's inhaled a lot of smoke, and it looks like she broke her right Metatarsal bone."

Having established communication with Rampart the next couple of minutes were spent stabilizing the young filly's condition. Johnny was starting to place an oxygen mask on her when she weakly spoke up.

"Where's my mommy? Where is she?"

Johnny looked at Roy. Johnny already knew for the look Roy's eyes it was not good.

"Dear, your mommy has been teleported to Rampart." Roy said. "Dr. Brackett and his team are already helping your mommy as we speak."

Johnny keep face as neutral as possible. Direct teleports were never a good sign, but all he could do was help this little filly as best he could. After all he was a professional, not a miracle worker.
