A really sad scene from chapter 5 of my MLP FIM cartoon crossover story "Chaotic Order" [link] It's the scene where Baldwin and his class arrive in Ponyville to help the princesses, the Elements of Harmony, and everypony in Equestria with stopping Discord. Spike gives him that bad news that, what they assume, Twilight has been kidnapped by the Spirit of Chaos and Disharmony.

And Baldwin thinking of Twilight as a daughter to him…he breaks down.

Okay, MLP FIM fans, before anyone gets confused by the title, obviously, Mr. Baldwin and Twilight are NOT related, but friends. And Baldwin is her father figure, and being a seahorse father figure, he really cares about his pony daughter figure. And to imagine what bad things could happen to her…

Trust me, I nearly cried after I finished working on this. I REALLY got Badlwin's sad, horrified expression to be a total tear-jerker.

Also, if anyone doesn't know who that unicorn is in the background, that's Twilight's mother. She appeared in a flashback in the the episode "The Cutie Mark Chronicles".


Mr. Sparkle tried to comfort his wife as she leaned against him, sobbing uncontrollably as the tears fell like a waterfall. Spike and the remaining Elements of Harmony stood around in despair, Pinkie Pie sniffling while Rarity lay on her bottom with a look of pure grief on her face.

"Oh, this is the worst possible thing to ever happen!" The white unicorn exclaimed dramatically, placing a hoof against her forehead as if she were near fainting.

"Why would Discord take Twilight?" Pinkie Pie cried. "Why? Why? Why?"

"We don't know, Pinkie!" Rainbow Dash shouted, trying to keep her sudden rage under control. She didn't mean to yell at her pink friend, but the shock from Spike's news had affected her most of all and she felt wrecked inside. "We just don't…know…" Her wings lowered as her eyes fell to the ground, her bottom lip quivering.

"Oh, that monster has my daughter!" Mrs. Sparkle sobbed. "What will we do? My poor baby!" And she cried harder.

"We'll do the best we can, Mrs. Sparkle," all eyes turned to see that the princesses had arrived in Ponyville as they walked over to the distressed group.

"Of course," Luna nodded as she gave the Sparkle couple a sympathetic look. "We've sent our guards searching all over Equestria! And more search parties will be formed, I assure you."

"Even the Wonderbolts have agreed to support our seatch," Celestia added.

"Even the citizens of my home in Cloudsdale?" Rainbow Dash asked her, her voice meek and timid as Fluttershy's.

"Everypony is doing their best," Luna told her with a sad sigh. "I just…I just can't believe Discord would just…uh…" She shook her head, her midnight mane flowing with distress.

"That creature is just simply unbearable!" Rarity huffed, her voice cracking with wanting to cry for her missing friend. "Oh, no, unbearable doesn't even begin with! He has taken our friend, the most powerful element of all, leaving us in misery!"

"Oh, I hope he doesn't hurt Twilight," Fluttershy gulped, her green eyes glistening with worry.

"It'll be okay, partner," Applejack assured her, placing a hoof on her side. "Twilight's a strong gal. She can handle him."

"For how long?" Spike demanded, gazing at her with tears falling down his cheeks. "It was only one day that you guys handled him during the last encounter! Now Twilight's all alone with him and his chaos!"

"Spike, please," Fluttershy pleaded gently as she placed a hoof atop his head, trying to calm him down. "Don't let your rage get the best of you."

"Hey there, everybody!"

All heads turned to see Mr. Baldwin approach them with his class behind him; all wearing their trusty watersuits.

"Mr. Baldwin…" Celestia spoke with mild surprise. "But…aren't you and your students suppose to be in school at this hour?"

The pregnant seahorse scoffed. "I simply told Stickler I was taking the kids to a 'last-minute-planned field trip' here in Ponyville."

Bea edged close to Luna, leaning toward her. "But the principal already assumes it's got something to do with all this Discord business," she whispered.

"We are ready to kick some major Discord butt!" Milo exclaimed excitedly, showing off a few kung-fu moves he learned from a music video back at the tank. The rest of the class cheered, willing to help out Equestria in exchange for a break from school.

"Oh, Baldwin," Celestia sighed. "You didn't have to…"

"Hey, you ponies are our friends," Mr. Baldwin smiled at the sun princess as he rubbed his pregnant belly. "And if it weren't for Twilight, I wouldn't know what friendship was."

At the mention of Twilight, Mrs. Sparkle sobbed harder, and her husband quickly went back to comforting her.

Mr. Baldwin's glanced over at Twilight's mother with concern. "Hey…" He spoke nervously. "W-what's wrong?"

Celestia and Luna exchanged a sad glance before gazing back at him. The look on their faces, on all the ponies' faces, was starting to make Mr. Baldwin sweat with anxiety. He gazed at the five ponies that represented the Elements of Harmony he had just taught his class about recently.

Where was the most important element?

"Wha…" He nearly choked on his words before desperately turning to the princesses. "W-where's Twilight?"

Celestia and Luna lowered their heads in despair, too saddened to respond. The rest of the ponies turned to Spike, who fiddled with his hands nervously before slowly approaching Mr. Baldwin.

Milo stood beside his teacher, an equal amount of worry on his face as the baby dragon neared him. "Spike?" He asked softly. "Where…where is she?"

Spike gulped. Then he took out something small and burnt and handed it to Mr. Baldwin. The male seahorse's hands trembled as he began to read the small, burnt note. His glasses nearly fell from his face as he read that one word that immediately made his heart drop.

"Discord?" He cried out in horror.

Spike bit his lip, nodding quietly.

"Discord kidnapped my daughter!" Mrs. Sparkle sobbed.

"What?" Milo cried.

"What?" The rest of the class shouted.

The paper fell from Mr. Baldwin's hands as he felt his entire body quiver with fear. "It can't be…" He said desperately. "No…"

"I'm sorry, dear friend," Celestia told him sadly. "But it is true."

"The single word on the note proves that Discord has indeed taken Twilight Sparkle," Luna added regretfully.

"Twilight!" Milo gasped. "My-I mean our Twilight?"

Mr. Baldwin's eyes gazed at the ground, so overwhelmed with shock and despair as he placed both his hands over his pregnant stomach.

"Twilight, no…" He told himself continuously, his seahorse fin lowering to the ground.

"Mr. Baldwin!" Bea and Oscar exclaimed before they and the rest of the class rushed to their distressed teacher.

But he didn't even hear them as he continued gazing at the ground, his glasses slipping down his nose.

My closest friend who's been like a daughter to me…Mr. Baldwin's thought with so much sadness and desperation, Discord has my daughter…my beautiful pony daughter!

The male seahorse's eyes tightened as he lowered his head, quietly sobbing to himself. Though no tears fell, everyone could tell he was just as miserable as Mrs. Sparkle was, who had stopped crying to gaze sadly at their seahorse friend, whom she knew shared the same love for Twilight as her husband.
