I got to admit that only when I meant to add some pictures of Vinyl Scratch (also officially known as DJPon3) and Octavia Origamis to a group I realized that I hadn't so far uploaded them to Deviantart to begin with. I had just totally forgotten. Blush
So this picture (and several more to come) are a bit older, dating back to winter 2015/2016 (hence several differences in the way I folded her compared to my more recent projects).
Vinyl Scratch was the first MLP background pony (neither Mane6, nor CMC nor with any extensive speaking role) of whom I came up with an Origami. She was also the first whom I gave a somewhat more detailed mane, involving a little more cutting, while her tail is still the simple origami style without any additional details (for reference to the different developing stages of my Origamis, please take a look at Pinkie Pie's origami evolution). Vinyl was also the first pony for whom I made print versions with two different sets of eyes (with and without glasses) and the first one for whom I created a little accessory, the sound mixer.
I believe it was around that time when I created the sound mixer with the speakers, controlls and instruments printed on adhesive labels that I began to think that medium-term it would be a good idea to experiment with these labels to come up with more detailed manes and tails and also to allow for the creation of origami colors who cannot be printed (it doesn't work to print characters whose manes and tails are lighter than their fur, while printing them on labels to attach them to the darker colors is no problem).
Another aspect I noticed when folding Vinyl was that that when folding her horn it took a lot of paper from her snout resulting in her snout ending up shaped a bit like the snout of a colt in the series. In my more recent projects I've been cutting the snouts to make them resemble the snouts in the series while in case of unicorns I am now printing the horns on the mane labels rather than folding them the way I did here with Vinyl.
Since it was clear from the moment I made Vinyl that there would be an Octavia I kind of "announced" her by including a Cello in this picture.
