Thorax was quite shocked to learn that his child was a mammal unlike him. He didn't understand why his child kept nibbling his carapace or why Fang didn't immediately go off to serve his queen. It was only after watching other mares with their children that Thorax noticed the similarities.

And then he got sad.

Spike is currently trying to tell him that Twilight said that the love he feels toward Fang is enough to sustain him until he's old enough to 'hunt' on his own but Thor isn't listening.
