When Lightning Dust first adopted the innocent little nine-year-old, it was a pretty awkward walk home. Lightning wasn't truly looking for a real child when she chose Agatha (Desi's birth name), but rather she was looking for a protege to fulfill her own broken dreams. At this point in Lightning's life, she's middle-aged and full of bitterness towards the world, her failures and especially Rainbow Dash, so she has little patience for the little joys in life. After all, Lightning was raised to be a survivor at all costs, and a butterfly landing on a small pony's nose is a mere annoyance.
Agatha could care less about her adoptive mother's cold stare, as she is much too enthralled with the intricacy of a butterfly. She has begun to sprout small flight feathers over her downy plumage, and is too pure for the harsh world that Lightning will push her into.
