The shopkeeper explained that Octavius was a decommissioned Steamling toy that had been dumped into the ocean. There were others but they were all to damaged to be salvaged. The reason for decommissioning was uncertain but the shopkeep suspects that the Steamlings were faulty in one way or another.Intrigued, Aqua asked more questions and learned that Steamlings actually possess some levels of intelligence and consciousness. Aqua decides to buy the Steamling and turns down the offer to have her fixed and repainted, insisting that all the rust and barnacles made her unique.Aqua took the Steamling back to her ship and showed her to the crew with mixed results. Some were very curious about the robot and other much more weary. Following the instructions that the shopkeep gave her, Aqua filled the Steamling with water and turned the stiff key on her back.With a hiss and a clunk, the robot pony whirred to life…Steamling belong to Iradopts and are a closed species.
