"The Crystal Armor was one of the first designs I did for the game, not counting the graphics I'd done for the older Pony Fantasy VI.
Wanting to emphasize the more magical aspect to them, instead of the claw arms the originals had, these use crystal spears magically tethered to the crystals in the back of the armor. Older designs of the armor did have those claws, and at one point had a sparking ball of energy between the big crystals on the back, through those sketches were too light to scan."
