Twilight Sparkle: Happy birthday! Since my own birthday comes one day before you, I guess we can celebrate together.
Parcly Taxel: After all, we are the little princesses under Celestia's and Luna's wings, representing two great disciplines that neatly complement each other — I am science and you are magic.
Twilight: I remember the first time I saw you, when you entered the University of Canterbridge just after you got your cutie mark. While I was on adventures with my five besties, you were helping to turn those spells only unicorns could use into potions and other products for everypony. Though our accomplishments carried much weight, we never expected the day when crowns would adorn our heads…
Today I went to Sugar Belle's house to get a cake for you. Where have you been?
Parcly: On the top floor of the inn we were staying in was a breakfast buffet offering panoramic views of Asahikawa. As it was a Sunday, there were few carriages plying the streets, though their numbers increased as our stomachs were filled (except Spindle, who instead fades away if she hasn't fed on emotions for a while).
Spindle: There were still some hours left, so we revisited the Blue Pond and its surrounding areas. This time, with the benefit of daylight, we could also visit the Shirahige Falls, which feeds from the left into the Biei River; this river in turn discharges into the pond. From an overhead bridge I saw icicles hanging next to the waterfall's top and snow-capped mountains in the distance, but the crashing water is enough to convince onlookers that winter remains a very active season.
Parcly: The Blue Pond was still frozen, though we got a better view of the trees within it. These are arranged in neat rows, hinting at the pond's artificial origin in the wake of a nearby volcano's eruption. Its purpose is to prevent mudslides; the distinctive tinge arises from dissolved aluminium hydroxide.
On the way back to downtown Asahikawa I got to try a snowmobile. Spindle found a raft, tethered it onto the back and got the wildest thrills straight away! It brought back memories of her hunts, where she drifted among the clouds to places exotic in the hope of finding ponies like me to transform. Now she didn't have to ride her way home — or harm anypony.
I had a beef bowl with cheese and raw egg for lunch, then lounged a bit while chatting with my fellow genies. As twilight set in, I boarded the train back to Sapporo, where the darkening landscape and exhaustion from snowmobiling lulled me into my bottle. I dreamed of a cosy birthday party…
Pinkie Pie: …and was released in the midst of the city's Hearth's Warming festival! With a mini-Oktoberfest, live performances and an awe-inspiring fractal theatre, not even a cool alicorn like her could resist joining in the fun!
…well she did have some fun, as well as yakitori and a crèpe on the way back to her main Sapporo house, which is where we are now.
Twilight: As you wished, Parcly, here's a small cheesecake for the two of us. Ready to eat?
Parcly: Sure!
Twilight & Parcly: Happy Birthday!
