“Well, don’t give me the silent treatment. What’s your name?” asked Rainbow Dash smiling.
TJ blinked a few times, looking confused at this strange mare before him. After a few seconds of awkward silence TJ simply grinned.
Megan, watching silently in the background, simply sighed and decided to try and explain. “This is TJ, and he can’t talk.”
Rainbow Dash’s smile quickly faded. “You… can’t talk?” TJ sadly shook his head, before Rainbow Dash placed reassuring hooves on his cheeks. “Oh my gosh! You must be sick! Been singing in the bathroom too much? I know that nearly happened to me once!”
Megan tried to explain. “What? No, he can’t talk because-”
“Or maybe…” Rainbow Dash pressed her muzzle against his and looked him in the eyes. “…you were born without a voice.” She pulled away from the stressed stallion. “But don’t you worry. My friend will help. She can fix anything. She’ll be here soon.”
Megan rubbed her forehead and groaned. “Look, he wasn’t born without a voice, he’s…” Megan realized something. “Wait… Who’s coming?” Suddenly there was a bright flash. All three turned and saw a purple winged unicorn appear.
“RAINBOW DASH!” she happily exclaimed.
“TWILIGHT!” answered Rainbow Dash.
“Oh great… Another one…” muttered Megan, growing a bit concerned for her sanity as she now had to deal with two talking ponies. As the winged unicorn named Twilight approached them, Megan took a deep breath to calm her nerves and welcome this new visitor. “Hi! My name is…”
“I’m so glad my magic tracked you down.” said Twilight to Rainbow Dash, completely ignoring Megan. Megan growled through her gritted teeth as she shot an annoyed glare the two ponies. “I was almost afraid that once I cast the spell during you Sonic Rainboom, it might have sent you beyond my reach…”
“Twilight! Look! I think I found the one we were looking for!” Rainbow gestured to TJ, who looked more confused than ever before.
Twilight eyed the stallion before her and introduced herself. “Hello. My name is Twilight Sparkle. What’s your name?” Once again, TJ could do nothing but grin.
Trying to suppress her irritation, Megan once again calmed down and cleared her throat. “His name is TJ. And… He. Can’t. Talk.”
“My goodness!” said Twilight. “Don’t you worry. I know something that will fix that right up!”
“Are either of you even listening to me? I’m right here!” Throwing her hands in the air, Megan turned her back to them and groaned. “Ugh! Two strange talking ponies appear out of nowhere, and instead of talking to me, they persist in talking to one who can’t.” she muttered to herself before turning her sights back on the ponies. “Look! TJ can’t talk because…” Megan suddenly saw Twilight’s horn beginning to glow. Without warning, TJ’s head was covered in a purple aura. “Hey! What are you doing to-” Megan rushed over, but was blocked by Rainbow Dash’s wing.
“Relax kid. You’re gonna love this.” she assured Megan. Megan had no choice but to watch as Twilight used her magic.
“Just relax…” Said Twilight calmly. "Let's just take this off. Why would a grown stallion like you wear braces…?" Removing his reins, Twilight worked her magic. "Now hold still…" TJ squealed with fright before his eyes started to act weird and he fell into a trance. His eyes then began to swirl and ungulate. Afther only a minute, Twilight finally seized her spell. Feeling a slight headache, TJ rubbed his hoof against his forehead.
“Ugh… Wha- What are you..?” TJ froze as he heard a voice coming out of own mouth. “Did… Did I just..? Am I..?” He looked at Twilight with big eyes. “Did- Did I just talk?”
Twilight nodded smiling.
“I can talk. I CAN TALK!!!” yelled TJ and happily galloped about sporting a HUGE grin. “I CAN TALK! YEHAW!”
“Way the go Twilight!” cheered Rainbow Dash. “Your friend can talk again. Isn’t that great?” Megan said nothing. Her jaw dropped and pupils shrank with shock and disbelief. She couldn’t believe it. Her pony was talking.
“MEGAN! MEGAN!” TJ galloped passed Rainbow Dash, stopped with a grinding halt and grinned excitedly at Megan. “Look Megan! I can talk!” Megan only looked at him still in shock. “I can talk! With WORDS! Listen to this; she sells seashells by the seashore! Isn't this awesome?”
Finally getting a grip, Megan responded with a nervous voice. “Yeah… That’s… great…” she smiled weakly.
TJ giggled before finally realizing something. “Wait. If I can talk,” he was suddenly in her face, locking eyes with hers and grinned wryly. “…that means I can finally say what I’ve wanted to say for a very, VERY long time.” He took a step, forcing Megan to step backwards with a sudden sense of dread.
“What’s that..?” gulped Megan, trying to imagine any hurtful or demeaning act she had ever done. TJ pressed his forehead against hers, glaring into her eyes.
“I…”
“Hate…”
“OATMEAL!”
