Chrysalis is the Queen of the Changelings. She governs the daily lives of a large portion of her race. Quite often, you see her delegating duties to other Changelings and calculating who gets what amount of affection (with her getting the most, naturally). Her race feeds off of affection from others. This affection can range from admiration to full on love, but the intensity of the affection is what determines how filling it is. The Changelings area parasitic race in this sense, since they normally take affection to feed from others while giving nothing back. With this in mind, she decided to try to infiltrate some of the most love filled locations.

Her first major attempt was to simply replace the future ruler of the Crystal Empire and Princess of Love, Cadence. Actually capturing her was the easy part, since she was pretty naive about her position, or over reliance of the guards. Successfully imitating someone who she never met is where it got difficult. She was able to curse Cadence’s fiance before he suspected anything, and her guards were surprisingly quick to believe her charade. With how little intel she went into this mission, she successfully completed it, and was on the way to securing enough food to last generations if she decided to not just turn the Crystal Empire into a new Hive. She wasn’t expecting Shining Armor's little sister to stand in her way. After turning her friends and even the Princess of the Solar Kingdoms against her, Twilight pursued her with great suspicion, Chrysalis gave her the answer to her suspicions before imprisoning her like she did Cadence. In this hasty decision, she wasn’t able to predict the two collaborating to escape, nor was she anticipating a confrontation. She was dealt with rather quickly after being ousted as a Changeling. An embarrassing chapter for the Changeling history books.

It would be some time before trying again, but this time she would have intel on what needs to happen for her success. She sent small strike teams to forcefully replace the reigning Princesses in gaps that they found while observing them for months. In one fell swoop, they were all quietly replaced. Even the other Warriors were quickly shuffled out and replaced with doppelgangers. However, she wasn’t anticipating the emergence of the last Warrior of Darkness. Her planning and cunning was shut down by a team of very skilled and highly organized forces (in her eyes at least). The charisma to even gather an exile of her very clan left Chrysalis on the backfoot. The Changeling expected her underlings to dive in the way of any attack coming her way, but when the team finally reached her, her Changeling subjects merely observed the fight as it drew out. At the end of the fray, the Queen was nearly winning when her treacherous Changeling unleashed all his reciprocated affection to all her subordinates, every single one of them went through a metamorphosis. She suddenly found herself alone as the only one who had not ascended. Chrysalis ignored that accursed Warrior of Darkness’ plea to join her followers, but she fled instead, plotting her revenge.

Alicorn’s Soul — No one know’s where she acquired the glowing orb, but those who know about Soul orbs know that to get a usable soul, one must capture and harvest a subject to get it’s species’ soul. The process of getting the soul itself is whispered only in the darkest corners of magick study for how forbidden it is. Suffice to say, the soul extraction leaves its host dead, but the death is slow and very painful. The soul itself grants the abilities of an Alicorn to make the Changeling's changing ability that much more believable.

Morpher’s Hat — Most morphers have a cat-like hat, but being ever so fashion forward, Chrysalis has modified hers to have some resemblance to her crown. Her subjects dare not mention that it looks so gaudy that it's almost cute.
