Not my usual, but I just gotta show 'er off. Like most Flutter Ponies, Morning Glory's wings broke mere weeks after I got her, and I was pretty darn gentle with my toys. I was heartbroken, but what can a five-year-old do?The hair, I will admit, was my own fault.I rehaired her myself a couple weeks ago, using a hank of nylon hair from Dollyhair.com. They recommended "Electric Banana", and it's almost exactly the same color as the original. Compare for yourself: the mane is the new stuff, the tail is original. The wings I just completed. They were very frustrating. I made the frames out of stainless steel wire, and tried to base the shape off actual butterfly wings (Red Emperor). The frustrating part was the iridescent plastic film, called Angelina Film. After adhering the film to the wire, I had to very carefully melt the edges and heat the inside by holding each wing over a candle. The holes you can see are where the film got too hot and melted. I think I did these things three times over before they looked decent.I'm tempted to try making all-metal wings, with curlicues and things. But for now I'm just glad these look as good as they do.
