"He's the Apple kitchen," Blueblood said, holding the door open for the girls, "After you, ladies!" Arkansas looked around, staring at the different contraptions in the kitchen. She froze, bumping into Dixie Whistle as she spotted the colt behind the stove, humming softly. "Oh Erligold!" The colt looked up, ears perked. Arkansas gasped as his eyes went directly to her.

"Howdy, uncle Blueblood! N'who's this?" The colt was her age but he was large. She was scared already.

"This is little Arkansas Black," Blueblood said, "She's a little shy. Don't scare her, okay?" Erligold nodded and hopped down.

"Howdy," he said, "Ah'm yer cousin Erligold! S'okay, ah ain't gonna assault yah like Pa or Auntie Applejack." Arkansas put two and two together and hid directly behind Blueblood's large legs. He was the son of the giant pony she'd seen. He smiled softly though and she felt…safe, comfortable. He wasn't yelling or trying to hug her. He was just smiling. Blueblood pushed her forward and she smiled up at the boy. "Say, you hungry?" He asked softly, "Uncle Blueblood, ah got them fancy hor's…uh…them fancy hoof foods yah gave me the recipe for!"

Taking the snacks out of the oven, Arkansas' nose was filled with deliciousness. She looked as the young colt drizzled some weird sauce on the apple crackers. Then he handed one to each of them. Arkansas looked up at Dixie who nodded. "Ain't poison," she whistled, "G'head!" Arkansas bit the cracker and gasped.

"S'real good," she whispered, "Salty."

"Green apple crackers with a balsamic reduction," Erligold said proudly, placing a hoof on his cousin's shoulder, "Ain't no shyness, cuz, that can't be fixed by food!" Arkansas smiled. Maybe these apples weren't SO bad after all…
