Personality; Prior King Sombra's reign, Opalescent Pearl was kind and rather an oddball. Coming from a farmer family, Pearl always knew to look on the optimistic side of life and tried to find the good in everypony's heart. However, after she was taken to be King Sombra's personal slave for companionship, she felt determined to find if he truly had good in his heart or if it was "black as night" as ponies proclaimed. Behind the closed doors of his chambers, she was able to pick away at his hard exterior to uncover the gentle king he was, and that he could be, and slowly did Pearl fall in love with the tyrant. After his banishment to the ice and a thousand year curse, Pearl found herself unsure what to do with herself, constantly doubting her work and her ability to find everything good. It wasn't until she discovered a weakened Prince Topaz, only a mere fragment of what once was his King Sombra persona, and instantly took him in and showered him with affection, finally glad to have her missing half returned.
