Love Letter's small hooves pattered frantically against the crystal floors as she ran towards her sisters room.
Their mother and stepmother had stepped out for the day and so Marigold had been put in charge of the castle and her siblings as Inkwell was nowhere to be seen when the two had left.
"Marigold!" Love Letter shouted excitedly as she entered the blue unicorn's room.
Startled Marigold turned to face her little sister. "Dear Celestia Letter, what's with the yelling?"
Love Letter's face flushed up a bit in embarrassment, she didn't mean to be so loud but she just couldn't help herself. "I'm sorry, it's just, my dress is here! I want you to see it!"
Marigold tilted her head slightly as she thought a bit. Dress? What dress?
Letter picked up on her confused look and sighed. "My gala dress, remember. Yours, Starlight's and moms dresses arrived last week but mine wasn't with them. But it's here now!"
"Ooooh right, how could I forget" Marigold laughed a bit at her own forgetfulness. "Let's go have a look at it"
Love Letter's face brightened up as her smile returned wider than before and she skipped out of the door and towards her own room. Marigold trotting after her. The dress was simply adorable and Marigold had a hard time thinking of a more stereotypical "little princess" dress. Maybe if it was pink but that was about it. Letter stared intensely at it. Marigold knew how much her sister was looking forward to her first grand galloping gala and this dress was a huge sign that it was almost here.
Marigold snickered slightly at Letter's excitement and asked: "Do you want to try it on?"
The tiny yak pony emitted some strangely garbled version of a surprised neigh and looked up at her sister through her bangs. She hadn't even thought about trying it on before the gala.Quickly she nodded and let Marigold help her into her dress.
The dress was even cuter on and Marigold couldn't help to keep smiling at how happy her sister was about all this. To be honest Marigold was looking forward to it too, mostly as she got to spend time with her dad and meet their cousins. Something the two sisters shared this year.
"Mom told me yesterday that my dad would be at the gala, it's the first time I would get to meet him face to face!" Love Letter's smile suddenly wavered a bit. "Do you think he will like me?"
"Of course he will, why wouldn't he?" Marigold answered as she was in the middle of braiding her sisters mane.
"I don't know… maybe I'm not what he was expecting. I don't even know how a yak is supposed to act" she gave it a little thought and then gasped "What if he dislikes me so much that he doesn't even want to be pen pals anymore!"
"Don't think like that. Your dad seems like a really nice guy, even though I never got to meet him personally mom has said nothing but nice things about him. It's such a shame that you two haven't been able to meet each other sooner, with him living so far away and having a bunch of boring political stuff to do. Didn't he write that he wanted to see you sooner?"
"Yeah…"
"Then there you go. I bet he is just as nervous as you are hoping that you like him back and all that"
"You're kinda starting to sound like mom"
"Hey I'm just telling the truth. Speaking of which if he does act weird or mean then you know what?"
"What?"
"Then he can go eff himself! We all love you and you won't need someone like that"
"Marigold!" Love Letter said surprised yet couldn't keep herself from laughing at how her big sister almost said a swear. "Thanks sis"
The two sisters gave each other a short hug.
"I don't want to end up like Inkwell… scary and bitter" Love Letter continued.
Marigold looked down at the floor, not wanting to say anything bad about her brother. She knew he struggled with a lot of things and that he might not be able to help how he acts sometimes.
"You won't" She simply answered as she put in the last few flowers in her little sister's mane.

Bam Bam BAAAAMMM, Inkwell was outside the door the whole time!
He quietly stormed of towards the library to keep reading. He tries telling himself that he doesn't care what anybody says about him but deep down he does. Plus the fact that he got sad from hearing about his sisters relationships with their fathers.
The grand galloping gala is coming up, woop woop. This was kind of an introduction to that. And a bit of just sisters interacting I guess. Very tame stuff, not the most interesting thing I've done tbh. Trying to think of ways to make Marigold a bit more interesting, don't really have a plan on that yet though '' She is just generally the nice and understanding one who can act a bit as a mother hen towards other even though she is a few years younger than most of the cast.
I had SOOOO MUCH trouble with the background. The colors didn't work, the layout didn't work nothing wanted to look good. I think I re-did it like 3 times before it felt at least decent. Perspective is a bit off but that's me learning till next time I suppose.
I should probably start drawing some more simpler pictures without backgrounds.
Hope you guys like it still even though it's not my most interesting pic.
