Brisk landed softly on a cloud, her mother beside her. She fluttered her wings anxiously, watching several pegasi around her age group up and laugh together. Rainbow Dash nudged her daughter playfully, trying to get her to relax a little.
“Ready for summer flight camp?”
She nodded eagerly, but a couple butterflies still remained in her stomach.
“Of course I am, I was born ready!” She waved her hoof casually, smiling confidently. So what if she didn’t know anyone here, Brisk was sure she would find someone to hang out with.
Rainbow chuckled, “That’s the spirit, champ.”
“Hey, Crash!”
A familiar voice called out to them, causing their heads to turn towards the sound. Dash’s face lit up with a smile, as she trotted towards the individual.
“Oh, hey Thunderlane!” she said, the two exchanging hoof bumps, “I haven’t seen you in a while.”
“Same here, how ya been?”
Brisk peered curiously from behind her mother, as they continued to catch up, taking a good look at the stallion. If she was correct, she was pretty sure she’s seen him around Ponyville a few times. His dark coat complimented his eyes nicely, and his mane was fashioned into a neat mohawk. Now that she thought about it, he looked kinda similar to somepony else she knew…
“Brisk!”
She yelped at the mention of her name, backing up slightly. Oh, she knew that voice all right. Tanzanite suddenly emerged from behind his father, smiling brightly at her.
She gulped, staring at him dumbfoundedly. “You… w-what are you doing here!”
He didn’t answer the question though, and instead ran towards her and tackled her to the ground with a big hug.
“I didn’t know you would be here! This immediately makes flight camp a million times better!” he exclaimed in delight, fluttering his wings in excitement.
Brisk groaned underneath him, still not quite sure what was going on. “I thought you weren’t coming to this thing.”
Tanzanite climbed off of her, looking at her curiously. “Of course I was coming to flight camp! How else would I train to become worthy of being your prince.”
“We already went over this,” she rolled her eyes, hiding her face in embarrassment, “You’re not my prince, and stop talking so loud!”
“Yes my princess,” he lowered his voice to a smooth whisper.
“I’m not your princess either!”
Several giggles came from above them, and Brisk looked up to see her mother and Thunderlane watching the pair with amusement.
“I didn’t know you two knew each other,” Dash smirked, giving her daughter a knowing glance.
“Moomm,” Brisk groaned. She wasn’t helping at all in this situation.
“Ah, are you the mother of this fair maiden?” Tanzanite walked over to Rainbow and bowed respectively in front her. “May I just say your daughter is one of the most beautiful mares I have ever seen in my time. I hope you don’t mind, if I sweep her off her hooves someday.”
“Tch, yeah like that’ll ever happen,” Brisk grumbled, pouting in the background.
Rainbow chuckled, raising an eyebrow towards Thunderlane. “It looks like we got a sweet talker here, eh?”
He shrugged, rubbing his neck sheepishly. “Yeah, most of it is Rarity’s influence.”
“Of course it is,” she said, before turning attention back to the colt. “And no, I don’t mind at all if you do. In fact, I look forward to it,” she winked coyly towards them.
“Mom!”
That traitor.
“Really!” His eyes lit up happily, “Then I’ll be sure to do that for you! You have my word.”
He bowed again, before going back to Brisk who looked quite flustered.
“Well, we should be on our way now. You two have fun together at camp, okay?” Rainbow and Thunderlane waved goodbye to them, as they flew back towards Ponyville.
Brisk sighed, eyeing the beaming colt out of the corner of her eye. She was actually quite grateful to know a familiar face was attending the same camp as her. The fact that she was the reason for him doing this was pretty sweet too. Not that she’d ever tell him that though.
“Well, shall we?” He offered her a hoof with a charming smile.
She swiped it away as usual, grinning in return. “Yeah, sure.”
