Pinkie had brought the girls over to Fluttershy's for a happy Tea-Time party and to hopefully get some advice. She has already told Fluttershy about her daughter's lack of wanting to be around other ponies, so Fluttershy invited them over to hopefully make a play date with her girls and Mirage to see how they acted. Like usual, Turvy was happy, giggling, and joyfully chasing after Mirage as he floated around the room. Topsy, as usual, was clinging to her mother for cover. No matter how much Pinkie tried to convince her child to come out, Topsy wouldn't move.
Pinkie: "See? I don't know what to do!" Pinkie stretched her hooves out, then placed them back down making an exhausted sigh of defeat.
Fluttershy: "I'm sure she's just nervous, going to new places can be scary for children." Fluttershy gave a gentle smile, but Topsy only shuddered away.
Pinkie: "But, I've tried everything I could think of to help. I've thrown surprise parties with everypony from town, I've tried to get her to perform with Cheese and me in front of others, I've even tried helping her make friends by introducing her to other ponies her age!"
Pinkie slumped forward a bit. If she was a balloon, she'd look like she was deflating.
Pinkie:"So that's why I came here! I figured you would be the best pony to talk to when it comes to — " Pinkie paused, not wanting to make her daughter feel bad for being nervous around others. Instead, Pinkie raised her hoof to her mouth and tried to whisper, though it was still a little loud. Thankfully, the girls were still too young to spell out words. "I've never had to deal with S-HY-N-E-S-S and you're the only pony I know you has that! I'm scared she W-O-N'T make any F-RI-E-N-D-S and be A-L-O-N-E!" Pinkie's eyes watered and her lower lip shook as she expressed her fear that her daughter might never make any friends.
Fluttershy: "I'm the only pony you know?" Fluttershy raised a curious eyebrow. "What about your sister, Marble?"
Pinkie: "Marble?" Pinkie looked clueless, then gave a bright smile as she waved off the idea. "Marble isn't shy! She and Maud are the most talkative, over exaggerated, ponies I have ever met! They could go for hours talking about all kinds of things!"
Fluttershy gave a sheepish smile. Marble was almost as shy as she was. If not more.
Fluttershy: "Well, I'll give you as much advice as I can."
As soon as she said so, Pinkie gave a big bright smile; pulling out a pair of joke glasses with a notepad and pencil.
Flutterhy: "First, maybe you should try to slowly introduce her to the parties you have. Being surprised with so many ponies you don't know could only scare her more. I know when I have a party, I feel most comfortable surrounded by family and friends I know. Sometimes, being the center of attention could only make you more shy."
Pinkie was scribbling so fast, you could see the smoke coming off the notepad.
Fluttershy: "Second, maybe help her find what she excels in. Not only will she feel comfortable spending time with you, but she will feel confident if she is doing a hobby she is good at. She may even make new friends who also enjoy this hobby."
Fluttershy waited till Pinkie was ready to continue.
Fluttershy: "Lastly, offer alternatives. I know both Cheese Sandwich and you enjoy big, loud parties and making everypony happy. But, maybe limit what you do at these parties and give simple options. Give Topsy a chance to pick what she would be most comfortable with instead of trying to get her to do what you try to do. Maybe she would like to play with ribbons, or play with balloons. If you limit your options, she won't feel so overwhelmed and hide herself away."
After saying so, Fluttershy lowered her head so that she could be eye level with Pinkie's daughter. If she gave an example, maybe Pinkie could use it to help her daughter.
Fluttershy: "Topsy, would you like to go play with your sister and Mirage or would you like to see the baby?"
Topsy stayed quiet, she wanted to stay behind her mother's leg, but Pinkie slowly and carefully nudged her forward. Topsy looked frightened for the moment, but stayed quiet as she thought about her options.
Topsy: "….c-can I see the baby….?" She spoke so quietly that both Fluttershy and Pinkie had to lean in a bit. Fluttershy smiled and nodded for her to come forward. After a moment or two, Topsy slowly approached the baby. Her eyes shined with curiosity as she gazed at the sleeping infant.
Topsy: "….can I hold her?" She looked up at Fluttershy. Fluttershy agreed and carefully handed Levity to Topsy. She then glanced up at Pinkie who almost had tears in her eyes as she saw her child spend time with another pony, besides her twin sister. Granted it was a baby and wouldn't be much of a conversationalist, but it was a start and that's all Pinkie could hope for!
Fluttershy: "I wouldn't worry too much about her, Pinkie. She'll come out of her shell before you know it. It just takes a little time and understanding. I know I'm still learning from my own children. I've never had anypony in my family who could use magic, now I have two who could both have Discord's magic skill." Fluttershy gave a small laugh and Pinkie laughed with her.

Simple little story. I really wanted to try and focus a bit more on Pinkie and her twin daughters, especially since I don't do much on them. I also like the idea of 'party-planner, knows everpony's favorite things, has multiple friends' Pinkie Pie having NO idea how to communicate with her own shy child. Who else would know more about being a shy child then Fluttershy?
