Sitting at my desk working when someone walks in

"Bigshot, what are you doing?"

"I'm working."

"You've done nothing but work for ages, take some time to yourself."

"can't, got to keep up the workload while we sort out some new guys to help with the team."

Someone walks out

Someone walks back in and closes my work laptop. Stares at the laptop for a couple of seconds, fingers still raised to type before turning to someone

"Why'd you close it?"

"I've set up your Mac Book downstairs. Go down stairs and do something to entertain yourself."

"… like what?"

"Well you used to draw a lot, why not draw something, like that bouncy pony character?"

"But what about work? I need to get that spreadsheet finished by the end of the week."

"I'll be speaking with the division heads tomorrow, you've been working non stop for months and its making you grumpy. Now go enjoy yourself for a change."

blinks… blinks again and slowly gets up. I make way downstairs, looking about the table as I enter the spare room. The tablet has been brought out and connected, a hot glass of tea rests next to it. Off to the right is my pen and sitting to the left are 3 notebooks. Slowly sits down and stares at the black screen for a minute, before turning the laptop on.

And that is how this drawing was born. My last drawing was literally done in 30 minutes because i'm a badge Whore. But yeah, works kinda bad at the moment. I work with a number of teams at a firm in the city helping them maintain books on clients and such. I'm a jack of all trades of sorts, so when someone needs something done, either because they don't know themselves, or just don't have time, I step in to keep things moving smoothly.

Right now a large number of people have left, with one team of 6 operating with 2 people and one team of 3 with none at all working on the books they hold. Due to this we've brought back another person who used to work here from another department to help me while I take on 5 peoples workload, 2 of which deal with Spanish wording, of which I can't speak nor read.

This didn't happen all at once, just been happening over the last 4 months, but yeah its been very draining maintaining my role for awhile. We just got someone new in with one team, but the rest won't be here till new years & February, so a while to go till I can stop running in high gear.
