Background:

Discord and Celestia never beat around the bush in their love. They were very open in the fact they loved each other. And one night, they had made the ultimate action of their love. Sadly, Discord had to flee in the morning, the guards thinking he were a threat to her majesty. He was gone for an entire year, leaving Celestia alone to sign off on a marriage proposal for the unity of her kingdom, hurt and angry that he left her to this alone. She loved her child when he was born though, she named him Eris, and planned for him to be her heir should things go awry. Discord came back, now to see Celestia married to another, with a child on the way. When he tried to talk to her, she cried and all the anger and sorrow she bottled up came out and she took it out on him. All in all, they haven’t spoke since.

Eris grew up just fine without a father figure, he had his mother, and Queen Chrysalis to take care of him, although he knew years later that Chrysalis never liked him and that she was the reason he doesn’t have a sibling.
