Oh man, I've been looking foward to draw that one in a while. Well, I did drew him only once but I always wanted to draw bit more of him.
I know Starswirl got some bad feedback after the Shadow Play but to me his black & white mindset really make him work. I did enjoyed that after years of being hyped as the most amazing, talented and awesomest pony in history of all Equestria, he proved to be just as flawed as anypony else. And why he wouldn't be? — it all takes back to season 3 and the unfinished spell to hint a thing or two about him.
The writers could easily write him off as a amazingly talented in magic and a paragon of virtues on top of it all. Rather than that he's fantastic take on character that is still a hero in many regards, yet he is different kind from the ones we came to know from the show. Heroism comes in various forms after all.
