Background/Personality

Chara is the daughter of Dragon Lord Ember and Spike. As a child of the Dragon Lord, Chara ranks higher than any of the other dragons her age and lives upon the highest cliff with her mother. As a child of the "Pony Dragon" Spike, Chara constantly fights to prove her high ranking and her dragon blood. Since her birth, Chara constantly fought for her fellow dragon's respect, much to the dismay of her father Spike. Spike tried to teach his daughter his values, both pony and dragon; however, the young and spunky Chara grew bored with her father's lessons and stories, especially since they did not exactly help her in being accepted by the other dragons. As Chara grew closer to her fellow dragons, she grew further apart from Spike who merely watched his daughter from the sidelines. When the day came that Chara finally managed to defeat her older brother Topaz in combat, Spike realized that he was losing his daughter. Although Spike confronted Dragon Lord Ember with the issue, the purple "pony dragon" began accepting Ember's words: Chara, born among dragons, is a dragon, not a pony. When Chara reached five years old and the dragon estrus began again, Spike decided to fight his physical urges and leave the Dragon Lands in the hopes of feeling like he belonged. However, when Spike tearfully confronted Chara to join him, the little dragon refused, reiterating the same words her mother spoke of being a dragon. After finally accepting his daughter's words, Spike left the Dragon Lands without Chara, leaving the small dragon to remain with her mother. Sadly for Spike, Chara did not seem to miss her father, instead bonding closely with her mother Dragon Lord Ember. Over the next five years, Chara learned from the dragons, including her brother Topaz, and currently Chara is finally a respected young dragon among her peers.

Despite Spike's lessons at her young age, Chara seems to take more after her mother, Dragon Lord Ember. Chara is stubborn and has a quick fuse, often picking fights instead of trying to solve her problems through words. Chara is also quite spunky, often leading in a charge and standing on her own feet. Despite her brother's upbringing beside her, Chara does learn kindness from her father despite her interest in sparing: Chara follows the mantra "no dragon left behind".

Relationships:

In the dragon culture, children usually attach themselves to which ever parent they take after more. In the case of Chara, that means Dragon Lord Ember over Spike. Chara does not hate her father: rather, she just does not understand Spike and thinks his "pony ways" are not suited for her. This feeling ultimately leads to Chara not following her father beyond the Dragon Lands: the young dragon feels her place is in the Dragon Lands.

Chara has had a competitive relationship with her brother Topaz since the day she hatched. After a few years of humiliating scuffles and defeats, Chara eventually betters her brother in combat, resulting in a closer relationship between the two. As Topaz enters his teenage years, the two dragon siblings will always remain competitive simply due to dragon nature.

In the Dragon Lands, the dragons do not pay particular attention to family roles like ponies do: uncles, aunts, cousins, etc. do no really matter regarding social protocol. Despite his best efforts, Spike could not convince Chara otherwise. To Chara, "uncle" Garble is simply another adult male dragon alongside her mother Ember.

Even though Spike raved about his pony family, Chara has not met her "aunt" Princess Twilight Sparkle or her cousin Princess Dawn Dreamer, and probably won't until adulthood. Although Spike wrote to Twilight about his time in the Dragon Lands, he seemed to never mention his daughter Chara, so Spike's pony family do not know of the existence of Chara.

Special:
- Like all dragons, Chara is both quadrupedal and bipedal.
- Chara's fire is a blue-purple color. The young dragon LOVES using her fire breath. Her fire breath burns extra hot.
- Chara is an incredible flyer: the dragon is agile in the air and literally fly circles around her brother.
- Chara inherited one talent exclusively from her father: along with being a regular dragon breath, Chara is able to send letters through her fire just like Spike. The two dragons occasionally exchange letters: last Chara heard, her father was among the Changlings.
