The chaos of the day gave way to the calm of the night. The calm hung over Primrose and her new child. The pink mare smiled silently at the little filly in her hooves. Just that morning, Primrose felt only pain and confusion as she birthed her daughter Wind Flash. Nothing seemed real until this nighttime moment when Primrose was finally alone. Sure, she appreciated her mother being with her as she gave birth, then her whole family taking turns congratulating and cooing at the filly. However, Primrose knew that until this moment, her surprise daughter seemed nothing more than imaginary. Now, in this calm night, there was a small filly sleeping in her hooves, and Primrose could not help but smile silently.

"Ma fille" Primrose cooed, gazing at her daughter as she slept.

During her pregnancy, Primrose did not know if she would truly love her unplanned child: the sire certainly did not, and the unexpected responsibility at such a young age made Primrose nervous. Her own mother told Primrose that she would know during her first night with the child, and now here was that night. As little Wind Flash slept comfortably with her mother, Primrose simply watched, even though she herself was quite tired. However, nothing could keep Primrose from watching her daughter sleep her first night in this world. Primrose knew that their lives together would be complicated, filled with questions with no simple answers and wounded anger; however, this moment was simple and quiet, and Primrose treasured this moment.

"Je t'aime, ma fille" Primrose whispered softly to her daughter. Then the pink mare began to softly hum until she herself fell alseep. "Ma fille."

This is my entry to kindheart525's contest here. As I have mentioned before, I enjoy drawing for contests, and this time I decided to try my hand at motherly love.

KindHeart has so many MLP NG characters, and I enjoy reading how they all seem to connect and interact with each other! I also enjoy the unique designs, including the mares depicted in this picture, Primrose and Wind Flash. Whether I win the contest or not, I consider this fan art as well.

I hope I kept these two in character! Enjoy!
