Part of the alternate future timeline Ive been thinking up.

As our heroes are send hurdling through time and space they find themselves in an alternate future. One where Celestia was killed fighting the lord of sadness, King Nihlus atop the castle tower. With the disappearance of princess Luna months later, a leader had to be chosen. In her last will Celestia named Twilight sparkle ruler if anything were to happen to the two sisters. Reluctantly she agreed and took the throne. At first it was an adjustment, she only wanted the kingdom to be the best it can be.

Twilight has been known to get carried away, at first it was just a need to make Celestia proud, to improve the kingdom but hope turned to obsession. Slowly Twilight's rules began to get more and more demanding and restricting. The people annoyed her, all she was trying to do was improve their lives but they stood in the way of that progress. Soon the apple farm had been torn down to make way for a more efficient factory. A new police walked the streets looking for law breakers. Soon the laws got out of hand.

So began the rule of Twilight industries, dedicated to progress no matter the cost. Including freedom of choice, according to Twilight:
"A waste of valuable time and energy, why think when we have everyone's best interests already planned. cut out the middle pony. Progress is our future"
