Named after his ancestor, Starswirl excels in magic and plans to pursue knowledge of it for the rest of his life. He finds that all sorts of magic are worth looking into, from the mere stage show techniques to the darkest of spells. He tries to keep a calm, level head around most ponies, but when the topic of magic is brought up his demeanor drops and is replaced by an adorable nerd.
