he Carbon Cats live in the mountains alongside the Diamond Dogs — Eagle Island is one of the few places where populations of the two species tolerate each other, and actually the Eagle Island ones live in friendship. Carbon Cats are partially inspired by that one MLP G1 villain, Catrina, and tend to be more magical than the Diamond Dogs, bu are also smaller and physically weaker. Their tails are bladed rather than clubbed like the DDs and they wear waist sash things instead of jackets.
Smokey and Patches used to fight like… well, cats and dogs, but by the time Glinting joins the team they've ironed things out and are fast friends.
Now, I've been tossing around the idea of an agent liason with Equestria's SMILE, and them being either a pegasus or a griffon, so I decided with both. I mean, actually, only Top Sail is the SMILE agent. Glive is an agent liason with the Grittish Isles and their secret monster/magic agency that I haven't given a name yet.
Top Sail. I have… an awful lot of brown OCs, don't I? Sail, Dusty, Groundbreaker, Green, like 10 more OCs I've yet to introduce… Huh. Anyway, yeah, she's Equestrian. Her tenure with the GUARD is only for another few months — she has her partner and an eight-year-old daughter back in Equestria who she's looking forwards to seeing. Gee, that sure sounds like I'm setting her up like the '2 weeks to retirement' scenario, haha. Don't worry, I don't have any plans to kill her off in Book One. ;)
You know, Equestrians are weird! They use words like everypony, how odd.
Glive is… okay he's 100% based on/a reference to a character from one of my favourite book series as a kid and if anyone can actually guess what it is, I'll straight up draw one of their characters for them. If you know the series you'll probably get it as soon as I start describing him, but it was never one that reached major major popularity so fans are few and far between. Sorry, Rambling.
Glive is a technological genius. He's got very little in the way of magic — in fact he can barely fly and finds clouds suspiciously non-solid — but he could probably rig up a perimeter breach alarm from a microwave, three paperclips and a ball of twine. He once made a functional clock out of paper. He's currently working on developing spell-jamming/aura-blocking technology and is near a breakthrough on that. In the episode The Equestria Games we see the unicorn aura-blocking technology used for security purposes and that's a result of some of his work.
He's with the Eagle GUARD because of Pot Luck — her only spell is telekinesis, and she's so strong that she makes for a great test subject for the intensity of the aura-blocking and such. At the same time, he helps out in the behind-the scenes part of the GUARD, working with Groundbreaker and Cloudheart on scouring for new recruits, managing paperwork, maintaining the physical health of the GUARD, and fixing whatever the next thing they've broken is with a long-suffering sigh. His fashion-sense is in the negatives.
