Well…It all started form midnight sketch of Candy with messy hair, but she looked a little lonely.

I like to think about Candy and Arion like they are from two different worlds. Mute, ex-guard living and working in Canterlot and a teen, pony party planner of Ponyville would make a weird couple of friends. However they wouldn't force themselves to find a place in each others lives, they would just enjoying their company in the time when they would really need it, keeping it disobliging but strong bond.
I'm also imagining Arion being much older than Candy, since he's already ex-solider, what would make their friendship even more awkward for other ponies. I just like getting them in trouble : D
