MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR THE IRONY OF APPLEJACK. (SPECIFICALLY CHAPTER 9/10) AND THE ADVENT OF APPLEJACK
IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THAT YET, GO AWAY FROM THIS PAGE.
IF YOU HAVEN'T READ IT YET, READ IT. ITS AMAZING.
*HERE IT IS. READ IT!

The Irony of Applejack is made by Mister Friendly. Who is amazing and writes incredibly well despite apparently coming up with the story idea while drunk (btw now the best thing to come out of someone being drunk since forever).

OK, with that out of the way, I'm going to assume anyone left now is totally ok with spoilers for a series they haven't read/already has read this amazing fanfiction and now is ready to read this description.

The Irony of Applejack is one of the many 'What if X was a Changeling' stories, with a twist; Applejack, first of all, never knew what she was her whole life, and second, she isn't just any changeling drone. She's a Changeling Queen.
Things escalate from there. It's a story of intrigue and fighting and lore and fighting and the power of love to conquer all, including your own nature.

Queen Phantasma was Queen Carnation’s cousin, who stayed behind when Carnation left to discover Equestria. Both were the most ambitious Queens of their time, who spent time plotting a better life for their species.

While Carnation sought out a new food source in a place never before explored, Queen Phantasma decided that their way of life; fighting over scraps of love, every hive for themselves, was flawed… and decided to unite them all. By force.

She systematically killed or forced every Queen of every other hive to submit to her own, to become ONE hive, THE Hive, only one. By the end, only 13 other Queens remained. This became the first Changeling Court and she became the first Queen of Queens, with the other 13 submitting to her.

When Queen Carnation and Phantasma killed each other, Queen Chrysalis became the next Queen of Queens. And you all know what happens next.

One of the things that made Queen Phantasma harder to draw was that I immediately noticed her physical description somewhat resembles ’s Queen Miasma, along with her name. I don’t know if this was intentional on Mister Friendly’s part, but I forged ahead anyway. Just know that it wasn’t intentional on my part and I tried not to copy anything while still staying true to the text.

———————————————————————————————————————————————————

The first one Applejack’s eyes fell on sat with confident poise, certainty and authority practically radiating from her plum-colored eyes.

Her long violet mane hung like a languid curtain around her shoulders and neck, making her look like she was draped in some kind of goo. Her muzzle was oddly squashed, her fangs hanging down past her chin, making her thin face look like that of a viper.

———————————————————————————————————————————————————

But a moment later, the image sharpened again. And just as it did, shadow broke away from the nearby wall – a gangly shadow draped in violet.

“So you’re actually going through with it?”

Queen Carnation ground to a halt, as did Hyacinth, their eyes trained on the newcomer.

Instantly Applejack recognized Phantasma, though she, too, was older. She stood considerably taller, yet her frame seemed somehow thinner from before. A small crown rested upon her head, too; one adorned with deep purple gemstones.

She was gazing solely at Carnation with a frown on her thin face, her unusually big eyes clearly glimmering with displeasure.

———————————————————————————————————————————————————

Queen Phantasma had changed little from the memories Applejack had seen, at least physically.

She still had a long, languid purple mane that seemed more liquid goo than actual hair. Her long, sickle-like fangs only barely passed her narrow chin, the white contrasting spectacularly against her black chitin.

Her large, bulbous plum-colored eyes stared almost hungrily straight at Carnation, her gaze never faltering.

She was horribly thin, looking borderline emaciated; making her look far ganglier and stilted than any queen Applejack had ever seen before.

———————————————————————————————————————————————————

Those are the descriptions given for Queen Phantasma which I based her off of. I looked up pictures of vipers that were as short nosed as described (seriously they’re so short) and gave her an emaciated look; not as bad as Miracleverse Chrysalis, but that’s so bad her wings have shriveled up to provide fuel for the rest of her, so that’s not a high standard to cross over.

Her hair was inspired more by actual people with hair that’s supernaturally… like, gossamer and waterlike, the ones that look like their hair is just a sheet draped over them, with more stylistic additions to make the liquid goo effect work better.
She once again has a gradient in her hair, but much less obtrusive, just to enhance the goo-like effect, losing its luster at the bottom.
Her hair has a sheen to it added later, and you can find instructions and a color guide once again here.

So, meet Queen Phantasma, Starryoak's depiction. I might draw more of the characters, since I absolutely ADORE this fanfiction. Sorry for the Miracleverse followers; I have like, 14 unfinished sketches for it, so it's not a matter of not having anything to do, I have a huge backlog, but I got the inspiration for this.

Anyone want to submit this to Derpibooru or somehow contact Mr. Friendly? I want to show him, but I don't know how. So yeah, tacit approval of uploading this to Derpibooru.

Approval accepted, Starr! Upload commenced! I hope that Mister Friendly notices this for you.
