- Diamond Dust is the first and only child of Diamond Dust and Night Glider. Originally, Diamond Dust was born a pegasus like her mother; however, her wings were abnormally fused together at birth caused by a birth defect. After getting her fused wings surgically removed, Diamond Dust lost her wings and was left with two scars on each side of her shoulders where her wings once grew out of. Despite losing her wings, she was too young to remember having them.. So she lived her life as an Earth Pony like her father as if that was how she was originally. She didn't learn about her scars and fused wings until she was older, when she asked why she had those scars.

- As a filly, Night Glider would carry her up to Cloudsdale to meet some of their family members, and to see if even after losing her wings, if Diamond Dust could still walk on clouds or not like other pegasi. Whenever Night Glider placed her on a cloud, she would stay in place, but slowly begin sinking through the clouds. (Kind of like baby Dumbo in the sac when the Stork put it on the cloud in the beginning of "Dumbo") She can stay on them better than a unicorn/earth pony, but due to her wings not being there to give her the elevation anymore, she can't stay on them for good.

- Diamond Dust ended up feeling a bit inferior towards the other foals in Starlight Village once learning about her surgery. When the foals asked what she was, she didn't know how to answer "earth pony" or "pegasi". She knew she wasn't a unicorn, but she wasn't a pegasus anymore.. But she also wasn't an earth pony. She dealt with this issue for a while until she met a filly who sparked the bravery within her. That filly was named Nova. (Like with many ponies, she was holding up to her element before her time; the Element of Bravery) Diamond Dust met Nova when Princess Twilight made a visit to Starlight Village to see how things were going. Nova went with her mother, and immediately took to Diamond because of how unsure she seemed about meeting new ponies. After meeting Nova, Diamond decided not to cower away anymore, and she designated her life to proving to everypony that she didn't need her wings to have meaning; She didn't need her wings to have speed.. She would becoming the fastest pony in the village.

- Diamond Dust achieved her dream and her cutie mark finally after years of training, and she beat the entirety of the pegasi ponies her age in a race; on hoof. Although the pegasi were fast, she was faster. Her hooves stung but her heart burned with adrenaline, driving her past the finish line and earning the mark on her flank. She town awarded Diamond Dust with praise and admiration, and even after losing, her pegasus classmates were proud of her.

- Diamond Dust has a passion for snow, much like her father. Although she isn't much into skiing as he is, she doesn't mind snow boarding. She just likes anything that has to do with winter and snow. She gained the nickname "Snowflake" by her father when he noticed how much she loved it.
