I recently got a look at the IDW comic where the CMC travel to NotEgypt and while I still not a fan of of the pacing and the tone of the comics, I did really like the aesthetics they had going on.
It also fleshes out the world a bit, which is always welcome (probably gonna do a Roc too at some point) and gives you something to put into not-Africa besides tribal zebras.

As for integrating these guys into my setting, I think it'll be something along the lines of Ardeth and his bros in the Mummy movies; safeguarding the ancient Ruins and making sure the evil within doesn't escape kinda deal, maybe hunting down artifacts taken by graverobbers.
