Today while working on other projects in the studio I took a moment to quickly sketch out a recent moment from my Equestria dreamscape. Recently the Ponyville Theater Company had a casting call for an upcoming play called "The Jungle Kingdom of Jade". It is screenplay written to obviously ride on the coattails of Daring Do's success. It even has a pegasus mare adventurer as part of the cast. Although the main protagonist is a unicorn mare named Grand Adventure. Much to Petina's annoyance she didn't get it or any part in the play.
Thinking it would be fun Carousel decided to also audition for several parts in the play. To everyone's surprise she got a fairly important role as Leona Queen of the Leopards. Never mind that Leon and Leona derived from the latin word Leo or lion. It was just another example that this screenplay was B-grade material. But the theater company is doing its best to make a silk purse out of this sow's ear.
Now Leona is not the villain in this production but she is an obstacle the protagonist must overcome and win over to their side. So Leona actually has quite a few speaking lines. Therefore Carousel has thrown herself into learning the part and the character. Petina and I at this point discovered that Carousel had done theater in college back in the Angel and Knight Prime dreamscape, and that she believes in Method Acting.
So for the last couple of weeks whenever she's not running her delivery, dancing, or working in the garden, she's been this aloof, proud, and predatory individual that lies regally in the living room ordering Petina and I around. She also started developing the habit of stalking around our cottage and pouncing on us. Which is both very adorable and terrifying at the same time.
Part of her preparation for the play has been working out her makeup for the part. Fortunately with Petina's knowledge on the subject, and some magic tricks, she's figured out a quick method of body painting Carousel for the part. Then it's just a matter of Carousel donning paw booties over her hooves and she's in character.
