“Come on, Mom, I don’t need a babysitter, I’m ten-years old for crying out loud! Please, Mom?” Champ said desperately for the twentieth time, pulling his most pathetic puppy face yet.
“Stop it Champion, I don’t want to hear another word from you. You are staying with Granma and Granpa and that is final. Is that understood?” Rainbow said sternly as she pressed the doorbell, reminding Champ of Drill Sergant Spitfire.
“Yes ma’am…” Champ muttered. Suddenly, the side door was thrust open with a bang, making a Champ nearly jump out of his fur. He subtly slunk behind Rainbows forelegs at the sight of the towering stallion above him.
Bow hot hoof grinned a wide, almost crazed smile as he boomed, “RAINBOW!” Scooping her up in a tight, bear hug, he yelled right in her ear, “Oh my goodness, Sweetie, it’s so good to see you! What are you doing here?”
Rainbow let him have a moment before wriggling out of his grasp. After catching her breath, she casually said, “Hey, Dad. I hope I’m not too early. I just came by to drop off Champ.”
“ Oh, of course!” He realized, before turning his head towards the inside of the house and screamed, “ HEY WINDY! RAINBOW’S HERE AND SHE BROUGHT CHAMPY WITH HER!!!”
“I’m coming!” A sweet, soft voice called, before an estatic Windy appeared in the hall behind him.
She flew up to the others, eagerly looking for her grandson as she said, “ Hi Rainbow! So nice to see you- where’s the little speedster you brought with you?”
Rainbow nudged-well, more like kicked-her cowering son out in the open, exposing him to predators, as she said smugly, “ Come on, Champ. Don’t you want to say hi?”
Champ saw his life flash before his eyes as both Grandparents instantly scooped him up with one fell swoop into their tight, squishy, impenetrable clutches.
Windy let out a bone-chilling squeal as she squished Champ’s sensitive cheeks until they were sore. “Aw, just look at you! You’ve grown so much since last you were here! Have you been drinking your milk? Speaking of Drink, if your thirsty, I can get you something, anything you want. Organize juice, Apple juice, energy drink, cider, milk, water, or oh- tea! Or Maybe all of them. Since you’ll be staying with us all night, there’s no rush. Isn’t that right, honey?” She said, looking at Bow.
“You bet it is!” His deep voice making Champ vibrate, “ We’ll have all night to do all kinds of fun stuff! We can play board games- or would videos games be more ‘hip’ as you kids say? Oh! We can also play some hoofball, or build obstacle courses and maybe a fort or two- your mom just loved forts. Speaking of you mom, I don’t think you’ve seen her trophy room yet!”
Windy gasped, “ Oh my, will have to do that first thing then! And just wait until you see her Baby pictures! We’re going to have so much fun together!”
“With the best Grandson ever!” Bow-hot hoof added.
Champ looked for an escape, but there was no way out. His tiny noodle arms where no match for their strong, buff hold against him. Note to self: work out more. Desperate for any help, Champ looked up at his mom and mouthed “ h-e-l-p-m-e !”
Rainbow only smirked and shook her head. Out loud she said, “ Well, I best be going. Have fun you three. I’ll be back at ten tomorrow to pick him up. See ya, Champ!”
With that she left, slamming the door behind her and sealing his doom.
“ Isn’t this great, Champy? Just three of us, alone for the night! This is going to be awesome!” Windy squealed.
“And all becuase of our awesome Grandson!” exclaimed Bow, as the two middle aged ponies squeezed him even tighter- so tight, that he could barely breath, much less talk.
Champ’s pupils dilated to the size of pin pricks.
So this is how I die.

Don’t you just love those over-enthusiastic, lung-squeezing grandparents? #relatable
Now before you start thinking Champ utterly despises them….don’t. Because, at the end of the day, Champ really does love and appreciate both of them. They really are kind to him and often let him get away with whatever he wants, which is pretty sick. Even though they can be really embarrassing at times, whenever Champ would get picked up by them from Flight camp, he’d tell them about how he failed or messed up something, and the two would always give him encouraging words even take him out for ice cream to life his spirits up. The only thing he really doesn’t like, is how they are so obsessed with his mom ( like she’s a goddess or something- like, that trophy room is practically a shrine!) Do you know how awkward it is to see your Mom in a dipper?
Oh, and the hugs. He’s gotten them to where they don’t do it in public, but they never grow out of it really. Rainbow would know, oh, how she knows. ̶y̶e̶s̶ ̶s̶h̶e̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶t̶o̶t̶a̶l̶l̶y̶ ̶t̶a̶k̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶h̶e̶r̶ ̶c̶h̶i̶l̶d̶h̶o̶o̶d̶ ̶s̶u̶f̶f̶e̶r̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶o̶u̶t̶ ̶o̶n̶ ̶a̶ ̶C̶h̶a̶m̶p̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶m̶a̶k̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶h̶i̶m̶ ̶e̶n̶d̶u̶r̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶s̶a̶m̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶s̶h̶e̶ ̶w̶e̶n̶t̶ ̶t̶h̶r̶o̶u̶g̶h̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶m̶a̶k̶e̶s̶ ̶e̶x̶c̶u̶s̶e̶s̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶i̶t̶’̶s̶ ̶g̶o̶o̶d̶ ̶f̶o̶r̶ ̶h̶i̶m̶
