The sounds of screaming in agony sounded off throughout the forest. Howlers froze in their spots, mid-work, the children howlers stopped playing with each other, staring at a certain hut. It seemed as if time had froze completely, the silence was thick in the air.
Then another scream was heard.
Not a minute had been wasted before nurses ran in — and a colt was pushed out. It's as if he was paralyzed, his whole body was stiff and his eyes were wide and shiny. He looked over his broad shoulder, staring wide eyed at the hut.
Scream.
It was happening. The birth of a Nocturnal Howler was deadly. Every Howler knew that — but this was an interbred. No one knew what would happen. Time seemed to slow down for the pegasi as he stumbled, trying to stand up. His limbs felt limp and jello. He wanted to be there with her. It might be the last time he sees her.
All the screams slowly went quiet and a sound of whimpering was heard — followed by crying of a child. It was very weak and in agnoy. He heard rustles and looked at the curtains. They slowly slid open, revealing two, pale nurses. Both of them looked like they've just seen a nightmare. Words were stuck in his throat, unable to have the courage to speak. Did she live?
Turns out, they refused to let him in until they clean her up and treat her. He would shout and yell, wanting to see his wife who had just given birth. They wouldn't budge. He was going to start breaking the laws of the pack just to get to his wife but then they told him.
She had given birth to a blessing.
They had led him away to the river and there she was, hidden under a big leaf, away from the sunset rays. The purple tinted river shimmered as it brushed the soft grass beneath her. Taking slow steps, eyeing straight under the big umbrella, where she was laying. Taking advantage of his long legs, he jumped over the river, feeling the cool grass beneath his hooves. There she was. His baby girl.
She was all curled up, her featherless wings were much bigger than her age, just like her ears. A reddish tint rose coloured her soft cheeks as she breathed in and out just as soft. A big tail curled behind her, as if trying to shy away.
He sat down beneath the leaf, right beside her. A smile was on his lips as he raised one wing, acting as a shield from the sun before almost covering her like a blanket. She moved against him before getting closer for warmth, nuzzling into his thick fur and feathers. Hot, but happy, tears rolled down his cheeks as he lay his head beside her.
"Hey there, pansy. Just had to stay in there a bit longer, huh?" She whimpered in return, her eyes still closed as her nose bumped against his. His heart leaped at her way of trying to locate him by using his voice. Her whimpers turned to cooes once she had located him. "How about we name you… Beatz?" He spoke softly and deeply. She only cooed in return, crawling to steal more of his warmth.
"Yeah, Beatz would be perfect."
Yeh, I'm aware I forgot the mark around her neck but it's too late, lol. Anyway, the first drawing of how Beatz was born. A little bundle of let's-stay-inside-mama's-belly-for-a-few-more-weeks. I've designed her father n all, I just need to figure out his colours, body, and cutie-mark. I've also finished designing her big ol' mother, need to figure out her colours tho.
I've got the other parts ready, but I don't think I'll submit them until I know if you guys want more ;w; This arc won't be just how she was born and grew up — many characters will make appearance and I'll just continue this as a big story.
So, if you guys want more, please do tell me! I appreciate any feedback! Btw, look at that fluffy grass.
