"Reporting live from Rainbow Falls for Canterlot News, I'm Sunny Storms!"
Stormy with a Side of Pudding tells the story of Sunny Storms, a perky aspiring weathergirl trying to make a name for herself in the glamorous world of television news. As an intern for a modest Canterlot City news studio, Sunny has a deep knowledge and love of meteorology but keeps it a secret from her peers out of fear of being ridiculed.
One day, Sunny is sent to the small island town of Dreary Falls, where the primary source of economy is dry, flavorless muffins. There, she meets a young and ambitious but widely misunderstood scientist named Chip Knockwood, whose only goal in life is to bring color to his home and the lives of its people. To realize that goal, he invents a machine to turn water into food, and after a few minor mishaps (and property damage), the machine works and makes burgers, pasta, cupcakes, ice cream, and various other foods rain down on the island. Their lives suddenly filled with flavor, the people of Dreary Falls rejoice, and the town is renamed to Rainbow Falls.
Sunny is so moved by Chip's desire to make others happy, and Chip so excited by Sunny's hidden appreciation of science, that a romance starts to blossom between them. Chip surprises Sunny by creating a giant pool of chocolate pudding (Sunny's favorite treat), and he encourages her not to hide her love of science from the world. With new resolve, Sunny vows to make her peers see her as she truly is and take the news world… by storm!
(Oh, and she also saves the world from a cataclysmic pudding flood. That's important, too.)
