Discord, the Lord of Chaos and Madness, lay slumped on the floor with his neck and head steched out flat in despair. His back ( if it could be called that) stood arched with his talon and paw flung out behind him. He looked like a scrunched up caterpillar, brooding outside the kitchen door from which he was forced.
He had tried every trick he knew, aside from using brute force or magic, to get an early taste of dinner. Sure, Discord could summon the exact same cucumber soup with a snap of his claw, but it never tasted as good as Fluttershy's. And that stubborn mare wouldn't give him one morsel!
"You'll just have to wait until it's done. Surely you can last another five minutes?" her coyly said words echoed in his mind.
"Five minutes my mismatched flank!" he thought. "The Lord of Chaos doesn’t wait five minutes for anything! Not now, not ever!"
But Fluttershy's husband does.
And if Fluttershy's husband can last that long, then so can the Lord of Chaos.
Discord heaved a long, overly dramatic sigh in defeat as he lost the argument with his thoughts. His frown didn’t stay long; however, and quickly turned upside down into a mischievous smile.
“Well, It least I have a good view from down here," He thought, peering through the doorway at Fluttershy, who was standing at the stove with her back to him.
His attention was suddenly distracted from his horse wife by a small, almost unnoticeable noise. Instinctively, Discord's head shot up as he looked to his left, only to find his tiny, barely four-month old son staring up at him from within his basket across the room.
"Huh, he must of woken up from his nap. I bet he’s hungry.” Discord thought, bringing his forelegs in front of him and relaxing his back to a more comfortable position.
Lokie didn't look hungry. He didn't look like anything. His face was blank, leaving Discord wondering if his cub was even looking at him.
"Mew." Lokie squeaked again.
"Sorry, my mewing is a little rusty. Wanna say that again?" Discord offered.
Lokie kept silently staring. A few seconds passed between them before Lokie broke the trance and stood up. He stretched, arching his back in a yawn that folded his ears back, before stumbeling over the basket rim. Shaking off his tumble, the cub began to silently pad over to his father on his tiny baby paws. Discord only watched and stayed completely still, almost afraid he’d scare him away.
Lokie kept his wide eyes fixed on his Discord’s chest until his muzzle was a half a foot away. Then he stopped and carefully took a few sniffs.
"Contrary to some ponies beliefs, I do take baths, you know," Discord said, before realizing it might have frightened the cub.
But Lokie didn't seem to get the joke, much less hear him. Instead, he only walked closer, turning his backside towards Discord's chest first. Then, arching his back and settling down in the way Discord had seen Fluttershy's cats do, he curled infront of his father's fluffy chest.
Discord was awestruck. No, that wasn’t the right word. Dumbfounded? Amazed? Baffled? Surprised beyond measure? Confused? Definitely confused.
He didn’t understand; ever since Lokie had cracked open his shell, he took one look at Discord and decided he hated him. Anytime Discord would try to touch or hold Lokie, he’d just cry without stopping until Fluttershy came and calmed him down. He could look at him from a distance, but if the draconequus got too close, it’d send Lokie into a fit.
Now out-of-the-blue, his kid just decides he can waltz right up and snuggle the one creature in the household he’s terrified of? This was the opposite of normal for Lokie. Usually for Discord, he would revel in the abnormal, but this? This shook him to his core.
“-“
“Wait…I’m not the one shaking?” Discord realized, looking down at Lokie, who was nuzzleing even deeper into his grey-bage fur.
Discord was so caught off guard by Lokie, that he didn’t even notice the small vibration coming from his son until just now. At first, he thought he was just feeling Lokie’s heart beat, but it was much quicker, even for a small cub like him. It was small at first, but as Discord listened intently, it quickly grew more intense, until Discord could hear a small sound emitting from Lokie.
….purr….
….purrrr…..
….purrr…..
Suddenly, Discord's eyes grew wide and his pupils expanded as a vision or memory of some sort came ove him.
The sun. Sun is so bright. So hot and Hazy. Restless.
No.
Cool now. Soft. Soft cool fur. Soft arms. Smell nice…like cotten candy. Wrapped around by soft arms.
Heart. Bump bump. Bump bump. Snuggled tight against heart.
Singing. Soft singing. Lullaby?
Makes heart feel warm.
Makes safe and happy.
So happy…..
….purrr…..
……purrr…..
……….purrr…..
The memory disappeared as quickly as it came, leaving Discord lost in thought. After a moment, he blinks the stupor from his face and looks down at his purring cub. His gaze softens, glowing for a moment with parental pride and love. Discord took a risk and slowly lifting his claw, began to gently rub Lokie’s back. Lokie did nothing but purr louder as he drifted off to sleep.
Discord smiled.
“I guess we’re not so different after all“

Father and son bonding moment? Coming right up!
This is actually a momentous event for these two, one Discord will remember for years to come. As I described in the story, Lokie would get pretty upset whenever his father was around in those few early months. Fluttershy told Discord that he was just scared by his unusual appearance, and as soon as Lokie got used to it, he’d warm right up to him.
Months rolled by, and everything stayed the same. Discord didn’t like to show it, but he was really bothered by this; what Dad wouldn’t? Here he had been hoping for a son he could teach the ways of Chaos too, and he couldn’t even get near him without evoking tears!
Then all of a sudden, this happened. If Discord was like one of those mushy, feely kind of guys, he might have cried a tear or two himself. As you can imagine, Fluttershy was pretty surprised to find the two actually snuggling with each other ̶s̶e̶e̶ ̶D̶i̶s̶c̶o̶r̶d̶ ̶I̶ ̶t̶o̶l̶d̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶ ̶s̶o̶.
Dinner’s going to be a bit late tonight for the Fluttercord family.😏
In case there’s any confusion, that funky scene of broken up sentences is supposed to be Discord remembering himself as a young cub, when he used to purr with his mother around. So there ya go.
