Holy wow this girl was a marathon. I always have a life-size showpiece every year, and was really worried due to my time constrictions I wasn't going to be able to have one this year. But, Myiera had discussed her with me last year, and followed up several times, so I was determined to get her done! She was made (minus handsewing) in ONLY 3 DAYS. My husband and especially my brother-in-law were a HUGE help in getting her done! Couldn't have done it without them. With handsewing included, she was a good 100 collective hours of work. But very well worth it! I'm pretty satisfied with how she came out!
To combat the inevitable things that will come up:
- Yes, her bowtie is purple. I had legit forgotten to buy materials for it, and I had no pink satin in my stash. So it was purple or nothing! I'll deliver her a pink bowtie next year
- Her cutie mark: Apparently her cutie mark direction is a hot topic. I ultimately went with her first appearance in the show as the deciding factor. I was also informed at BC by an "Octavia expert" and one of Octavia's biggest fans that the Funko pop figurine is her commonly accepted cutie mark direction. So, I feel it's right!
Now, about her:
She is made from Platinum and Ash minky. Her bowtie is white cotton and lavender satin. It is removable via a magnet!
She is stuffed with poly-pellets and fiberfill. She also features flat hooves!
Her eyes and cutie mark are machine embroidered with files by equinepalette(me). Her iris's are made with satin and have been airbrushed to achieve highlights and a gradient. She has a soft closed cell foam armature in her legs, neck, and tail to help her stand. Her the back of her hair has quilt batting, and all her mane has been manually satin stitched.
The pattern is by equinepalette(me).
My artist mark is embroidered on her back right hoof. File by TheHarley.
