By this time many ponies were calling for the total destruction of anything that bore dark magic.
As soon as Lightning Dust got her hooves on the legendary tome she saw the perfect opportunity to get back at the Wonderbolts after being dishonourably discharged. If she couldn't be in the Wonderbolts then she'd claim ownership of them.
