Hey, remember the contents of Pinkie's bindle from page #40, when she thought she's eaten all of the apples she stole in the prequel novella? Bet you didn't think that had plot significance, did you? There are more connected threads than you know.
I took steps towards simplifying my style for this comic, utilising thicker brush strokes, few panels per page, and less attention to the background. I was hard to decide whether I should colour the second panel or not, and though I feel the greyscale version would have been punchier, this way you get a clear view of the cave troll's colours without the darkness obscuring them (though there is still come colour grading for the outdoors). I'm a lot happier with the line art for this page, I think the bold lines really improve each panel's focus. I'm still pretty split about how the second panel turned out.
I'm still looking for a colourist, so I can focus on the line art, though I think I will be staying more greyscale in the future — returning to the 'coloured if important' rule, rather than feeling obliged to colour the main panel or at least one per page. From the next page on, the comic will be going by "Everfree: The Journey", with the name after the colon being the chapter, of sorts. You'll also notice the tumblr link at the bottom has changed, though both still work.
I'm also waiting for more entries to the APP Farewell Event, which asked people to pick their favourite panel from the comic between pages #0 to #42 to be redrawn. So far I have received two votes in the month its been up.
