"Ugh, yes. I just wanted to say… sorry… for the time I scared you."
"…okay, uh, that's… very nice of you, thank you. "
"Whatever, don't start going all mushy on me. Just wanted to make sure we're cool now, alright Butterfly?
"…yes, we're …cool now? But that's not my"
"Great! That's great, see ya later!"
"…bye?"
After Gilda patched things up with Rainbow Dash, she figured she'd have to go and… ugh, apologize to the whimpy pegasus she'd scared before. What was her name, Butterfly? Not that it really bothered her to have Butterfly be afraid; just one less pony to bother her. But apparantly she was a friend of Dash's. And if Gilda wanted to keep the featherbrain as a friend, she guesses Butterfly is part of the package. So if Butterfly tells Dash she doesn't like Gilda then… no, she will go apologize, Butterfly will forgive her, and then Dash'll have no reason to not be her friend.
Apologies was never her strong suit, but she figures ponies are so happy and mushy and let's-all-be-friends that she'd get away with the minimum requirement. If it was a griffin she'd have to give up like half a months pay to make them forgive her for humiliating them while climbing over them in the pecking order. But with a pony she could just go and buy a cheap shiny trinket (you can never go wrong with shiny stuff, and it'll distract from the poor quality of it) which looks like a butterfly. Ponies always want stuff which looks like their flank-marks, so that'll be perfect. …Or maybe she should spent a little more on it, just to be sure the pony forgives her? It's better to be on the safe side, and buy something a bit more expensive -but she'll still need money back home, so it can't be too expensive.
Ugh, she hopes it's good enough, she really can't afford anything better. No, it's fine, ponies are all about forgivness, and it is shaped like a butterfly, which is the most important part. Now she just has to apologize, and then Dash won't stop being her friend.
When a stranger suddenly came to the cottage and knocked on the door while yelling at her to open it, Fluttershy didn't really want to do that. Or come out from under her sofa. But after maybe an hour had passed, during which they kept beating the door and shouting that they knew she was there, they slid something through the gap under it. It was some kind of butterfly mane-clip, made from some gold-colored metal with gems set into the wings. As she tried to figure out what was going on, the voice outside was starting to sound kind of desperate, pleading her to come to the door so that they could …apologize for something? And what was that about Dash? Eventually the voice began to sound a bit choked and wobbly, so Fluttershy figured she'd better answer. After a brief hesitation she put the clip on as she headed for the door. It's rude to not accept a gift, right? Although, maybe the person was at the wrong house, considering they kept mentioning someone named Butterfly?

This was originally going to have a bit more shipping going on, but then I changed it to be more platonic. Since it takes place during their first meeting after their only, very hostile, interaction, it doesn't make sense to me for any crushes to play part (unless Fluttershy is really attracted to griffons or vice versa).
But yeah, I ship these two pretty hard. I've mentioned before that I can like almost any ship if I think about them for two seconds, and this one has my guilty pleasure of a cool, badass, loner type falling for a sweet and shy person, who shows them how the be more gentle and whom they can teach to be more confident. I dunno, I just really enjoy that dynamic between characters.
