LOTS OF READING AHEAD!

I’ve been getting a lot of Magi requests from pals and here on da, so i did a big ol doodle page giving some insight on her character! If you have any questions about anything here please don’t hesitate to ask!

1) Magi gets very annoyed at others’ concerns regarding her antisocial nature. And when you're the heir of the princess of friendship, your own mother’s constant worrying can get a bit bothersome.

2) Don’t. She insists.

3) Magi actually gave friendship a try at one point, in her early school years. Twilight and Tempest had heightened her expectations before she even started school. Constantly praising their little princess and assuring her that all the other fillies would love her, and she’d have plenty of friends in no time. They were right! Many of the other kids were very excited to talk to Magi. But she began to notice an ongoing trend. The other kids were only ever talking to her about her status as royalty. Always asking about her mother, Twilight, what it was like to be a princess, what it was like to live in a castle, etc. Nopony even addressed her by her name, only referring to her as ‘princess’. Nopony ever asked her anything that showed interest in getting to know her. This realization hit her hard, and she began to think that nopony actually wanted to be her friend, they were only interested in her royal status. After her parents found out, they became extremely concerned and swamped Magi with loving words, kisses and snuggles, assuring her that everything would be okay and she was more than her status. This realization as a child has left a lasting effect on her, resulting in her developing terrible trust issues and being incredibly anxious around others.

4) Twi loves her grumpy baby very much, and loves to show her. Even if she doesn’t get much affection in return.

5) Some time after she came to the realization of everyone else’s true priorities when it came to knowing her, Magi was approached on the school playground by a tall blue pegasus, presumably not much older than her. She’d seen the filly in class before, but had never heard her talk. She seemed to be one to keep to herself. So when the filly asked if she wanted to play together, Magi was taken aback. What were her true intentions? Was she just calling her ‘princess’ to be polite, or was she another faker who couldn’t be trusted? Was this a joke? She had to find out.
“A-Are you sure?” Magi inquired.
The pegasus gave her a reassuring look and spoke again.
“Yeah! No one deserves to be all alone! You look like you could use a friend.”
Magi still felt strange about the situation. Then again, this filly was also one with few acquaintances. She didn’t seem like the type to pull tricks. Magi thought herself crazy for what she said next.
“S-Sure.”
The pegasus smiled widely and shook Magi’s hoof gently.
“Great! My name’s Gale Wings! But you can call me Gale!”
Magi felt a small smile form on her own face.
“Black Magic. B-But no princess talk, please, Magi is fine.”
The two became good friends not long after, and bonded over their introverted nature. Gale remains one of VERY few ponies Magi has genuine trust in, and her most valued friend.

6) However, her trust issues are still very prominent. Magi has to take a little time to assess a situation, and the other ponies involved, before she can become slightly more comfortable with what’s going on.
