This is an old postSo I've been thinking about making a game with this character(it's Rainbow Dash from MLP: FiM in case anyone didn't notice) and done a little bit of prototyping. If I'm going to proceed with this I want to have a model that I can be happy with. This is an old post
I'd like some input on this thing. I arranged a model viewer here:
http://folk.ntnu.no/oddvahu/Permanent/Model_RD/dash.html
(It's a bit bad and doesn't really display it properly, but the focus is on the shape, not the technical details)
Also, if anyone is interested I've uploaded the prototype I have at this time here:
http://folk.ntnu.no/oddvahu/dashPrototype.zip
Controls:
WASD — movement
Space — jump/hold to extend wings
QE — roll(air only)
Arrow keys or mouse — camera control/aerial pitch and yaw
I — toggle inverted camera
It's windows-only and has rather sloppy relative performance because I made it in Game Maker for the purpose of rapid experimentation.
The actual game (if any) will be written in Java with JOgl, so the prototype is not the game engine I'll be using, just so that's clear.
Not much has been decided yet and I'm open to all sorts of suggestions, not that I'm expecting a lot of feedback right here.
This will be a big project(~a year) if it gets off the ground.
