Time for another medieval Equestria Mythos entry!

The Gryphons once surpassed ponies in population and power, with a huge vast empire across equestria, nevertheless this made them all the more vulnerable when discord showed up and began his infamous reign of chaos. In the ensuing madness, many had to escape to their northern kingdoms in equestria’s neighboring continent, which is now known as “Griffonia”. Nevertheless, Griffonia was(and still is.) a dangerous place, filled with canyons and harsh mountain ranges, combined with lack of rain and a very fridgid climate. This has forced the gryphon’s to stick together and use their ingenuity to survive, with a wide range of infrasructure to help them store food and water year round. If that were'nt enough, much of the inner continent is impassable due to what many have claimed as demonic shapeshifting creatures, who’s numbers rival those of any sentient civilization. As time went on, things got worse as more and more incursions with these unknown creatures happened. The gryphon’s became more militaristic as the decades passed, it was a constant fight for survival, made worse by the constant threat of not knowing if any of your allies was in fact one of those “things” in disguise, leading to many purges and executions due to threats of infiltration.

All this is theorized to have been the catylst of the Crystal/Griffon war, started when a lightning quick raid by the gryphon’s managed to steal the Crystal Empire’s treasured artifact, if only so they could defend themselves with it’s power.
