As a foster child, Scruff never really felt the need to get close to his families. After his seventh family, Scruff just stopped getting close to any pony: why get cozy when you'll just leave tomorrow? This all changed when Scruff moved to Ponyville. At first, the teenage bat pony felt his usual detachment from Fluttershy; however, the cream pegasus reassured that families love each other, even if one pony leaves. When Scruff realized that Ponyville was to be his new home, he began opening up to other ponies. One pony seemed to shatter the barriers Scruff first put up: a small zebra. When Johari came to live with Fluttershy and her "sons", Johari instantly grew attached to Scruff: she clung to the bat pony like a fruit bat to a shiny apple. At first, Scruff was cautious about this small zebra and her immediate devotion to his distance; however, Scruff melted at his new "sister's" warmth, and quickly took to his new "big brother" role quite seriously, promising to protect his "Jo-jo" from anything scary.
Just wanted to draw my new bat pony "Scruff", so have some sibling nap time snuggling! Johari loves snuggling against her fluffy brother while napping.
