Background: Johari is the youngest adopted child of Fluttershy, and the only girl. Unlike the story of her brothers, Johari's adoption story was simple and planned: Fluttershy adopted Johari from Ponyville Social Services after the small zebra was brought over from Marefrica after her parents passed on. As the newest and youngest member of the Fluttershy family, Johari seems to get most of the recent attention; however, Johari wants nothing more than to explore her new home, especially everything she never saw in Marefrica. Although slightly shy around new ponies, Johari is eager to learn more about her new world, especially the new creatures such as bluejays and robins. When she knows it's safe, Johari will dart into a situation with her notebook in hand, ask a million and two questions of every pony, and jot everything down to relish later.

Like Fluttershy, Johari is quite shy when it comes to anything new: this is mostly due to anxiety from being in a new world. However when Johari feels comfortable, the zebra is a spunky and curious filly that loves to play. Johari is also quite friendly and kind, again like her Fluttershy.

Relationships:
Johari only has a vague recollection of her early life in Marefrica, so to her, Fluttershy is her real mother. Johari is Fluttershy's little shadow, following the yellow pegasus where ever she goes.

Johari loves her brothers: she loves climbing all over Speckle Heart, she loves cuddling her scruffy brother Scruff, and she adores modeling the flower crowns Sandy Feathers makes for her on occasion.

As being quite new to the family, Johari has only met her cousin Feather Dart on a couple of occasions: when Johari joins the CMC camp later on, she will see more of her cousin since he works at the camp.

Zecora plays a huge role in Johari's life: Fluttershy asked the adult zebra to serve as a role model for little Johari since there were no other zebras in Ponyville. Johari loves Zecora like an aunt, and Zecora herself enjoys teaching Johari all about the zebra culture.

Since she is young, every pony Johari meets is her best friend. Out of every pony in Ponyville, Johari loves playing with the fillies and colts her own age, such as Peony Pear, Marble Chord, Terra Taps, and Lunar Luck

Special:
- Johari does not have a cutie mark yet. Johari has no idea what her special talent would be; she is still trying to understand her new home and her new family, so the last thing on her mind is a cutie mark.
- Zecora serves as a role model and teacher to Johari on the ways of their zebra culture. These two mare zebras are the only ones residing in Ponyville, so the two sometimes go on day long trips outside of Ponyville to meet
other zebras.
- Johari keeps a sketch journal which she uses to record everything new she sees: most of the pages involve new plants and animals since these are her favorite.
- Johari is Swahili for "Jewel". The small zebra's biological parents gave her this name and their last wish was that she kept the name.
