"Hungry Souls"/Psychic Study #12-31-2019:
Throughout history, there were many cases of souls — even distant ones — that sought, hungered, and pined to be united with each other. They could have the most in life, or they could be greatly entertained and filled with joy, but even then there existed a hunger in their deepest psyches for one specific person.
Such a condition is usually triggered when both "hungry souls" first meet: afterwards, the other's fair visage starts to haunt the depths of either one's mind. The "partner"'s presence — however fleeting or brief — casts a great shadow upon either one's life, that the counterpart's image flashes at any random point. It could interrupt a great speech or disrupt an examination; it could interfere with training or education; and worse, if either one has given their body to another lover, the other will be so distressed by such a distant loss, that they manifest themselves towards the "traitor" like a relentless wraith that cannot be exorcised. And if one of those hungry souls dies without meeting the other, they will haunt the earth, driven to savage insanity by grief and permanent separation.
And how can such a condition be fixed? Most "available" options were painful or lethal, save for one, and only one, method: union with the other soul. It could be through physical union (which makes their souls and their resulting psyker powers or ghosts stronger!), although the easiest form is simply a close friendship. If both "halves" would not control them, they would even seek a greater level of intimacy, leading to physical union as both of them attempt to become one again.
Who, then, would be responsible for such obsessions? It could be Fate and his weavers, who relish in making this world less "boring". Question him, and he may enjoy distorting you, perhaps even bind you into such a relationship! What have I done …
