"Ma, wait for me!"
Applejack turned around and saw her son quickly approaching to her. It was very early in the morning, and Baldwin had to be in his bed, but he had his own reasons to be on the hooves at such an early time.
"Hey sugarcube, why did y'a woke up at such an early time? Even the sun hasn't yet risen. Y'a must still sleep another hour to gain strength, otherwise, not getting enough sleep on such a stallion as you, that will have a bad effect." AJ went to Bal and patted his brown hair.
Baldwin very quickly moved away from her and stretched with his full height "No i ain't! I'ma full of energy, and ready for apple-buckin' with y'a and pa!"
"Apple-bucking?" Her voice sounded a little sarcastic, but Bal didn't notice that. "I'm so sorry little one, but i still think you're too little for that. You could get hurt."
"No, i ain't!" Bal complained, his face turned discontent. " 'Sides, I became on two weeks older, stronger and bigger from the last time, when you said that i'm still too small for such work." He ran around AJ and climbed onto a stump , standed not far from them, and stretched himself trying to show his affirmation of his words.
"Y'a see, ma? I'm already enough big and strong to handle any work as any other member of Apple family!" He got down from the stump and approached her. " I can help, Ma! Please? Can I, can I?"
With all his might he looked on mother with puppy-dog eyes, but Applejack was stern. "Sorry sugarcube, but no."
"B-but…" he sniffed. "I wanna help you ya and Pa! It's sooo borin' to be with Granny Smith all day, I love her, but it's still borin' to listen to the story about how did Granny found magical apples and foundation of Ponyville for the two thousandth time!" He sniffed again. " It could be nice if Aunty Applebloom were here, she is good and fanny, i love spend time with her, but she is too busy with helping ponies with founding their cutiemarks… And uncle Bid Mac, who is absent already for a three weeks! And i know that you and dad gotta do all of Uncle's and Aunt's work, so i wanna help you, i wanna be as much big and strong as Pa! I wish i could…"
Applejack gazed down at her little apple bungle, she understood that her baby needed her care and love, but instead she gave all her strength to support the whole farm.
"I understand, you're wanna help us and be part of apple cause, you're have blood of Apple family and one day ya'll inherit all Sweet Apple Acres with your cousins, but you're gotta live nowdays, sugarcube, the childhood won't last forever, it's a gold days in your life and y'a gotta treasure 'em. You're still a foal, you can fill this time with joy and laughter. Childhood- this is the time when y'a can do what you want and when y'a want, you have thousands of opportunities to make these days unforgettable." She pulled him into a hug.
He looked at her without looking up in anticipation of what she would say next.
"Y'know i was a filly too, and i was a lot like you. I was full of life and energy, I wanted to help my parents work on the farm, sometimes I would wake them up in the middle of the night, only to get to work faster, I really liked it and I always did all the work with great joy, but then when I became older , I realized that I spent very little time on my childhood, and now I regret a little about that. And so I want to make it so that you will not be tormented in the future, and you could remember the moments of childhood, not only related to working on the farm."
Bal listened to his mother very carefully "Oh, o'key. I nderstood.." He really understood that his mother was right, but he still felt a bit letdown.
"But.." Applejack suddenly continued. " Y'know, maybe one day on the farm won't have a bad influence on your kiddo memories." She gave him a wink.
With great joy, he began to clap his hooves and began gleefully run around his mother. "Yes! Thank y's so much mother! I won't let y'a down!"
"Yup, now, we gotta skedaddle and start working before sun comes off the horizon!"
Applejack bestow her son with a warm smile and. She knelt to make it easier for her son to climb on her back.
"Ready for Apple-bucking?"
"Eeyup!"
